Parallax View is a series of movie posters designed to reveal themselves through a shift in focus.
The concept began with the idea of creating artwork that behaves differently depending on how you look at it. When viewed slightly beyond the primary subject, the imagery begins to come into focus and reveal another visual layer. The effect reminded me of the parallax phenomenon as well as the magic-eye books that were popular in the 1990s, but without the traditional 3D effect.
I wanted to apply that idea to something I already had a deep connection to: movie posters. Each piece uses familiar imagery from films and reinterprets it through a visual system that encourages the viewer to look a little differently.
The challenge was finding the right imagery and composition so that both layers worked independently while still belonging to the same poster. The result is a playful reinterpretation of familiar films—artwork that rewards a second look and creates a new visual relationship with movies we already know.
It's a simple concept at its core, but one that gives familiar movie imagery a completely different way of being seen.
